When we hear about low calorie food we immediately assume that it would taste bland and would primarily consist of salads. Most of us have the similar misconceptions about low calorie foods.
What Is Low Calorie Food?
The number of calories that we consume must get burnt and we must expend them otherwise the extra calories get added as fat. Low calorie foods mainly consist of vitamins and minerals and go low on fat and carbohydrate content. These in turn improve the production of enzymes that help breaking down the food and the excess fats. Many of us have the stigma that low calorie foods are difficult to prepare and taste terrible.
There are many low calorie cereals and food that are available in the market. Even low fat potato chips are produced which give you the same taste as the normal ones. It just takes the extra effort to be calorie conscious. Vegetables like cucumber, onions, radish, lettuce and spinach are low calorie foods. Fruits like apple, apricots, lime papaya, watermelon are rich in vitamins and minerals and also help you improve your skin and health. Oats is a healthy dietary fiber which increases the body’s metabolism rate thus helping one shed the excess fat.
Negative Calorie Foods
When one does not burn the calories being consume it leads to obesity and many obesity related diseases. To prevent conditions like this negative calories are of a great help. Broccoli is a great supplement that can be used in burgers and sandwiches. The body needs more calories to digest broccoli than it actually gains from it. There by you lose calories by eating negative calorie foods.
With a bad life style and bad eating habits obesity is becoming a serious problem. With a little effort one can make a high calorie food into a low calorie one.
